Introduction to Atoll Profiles
The purpose of the community profiles is to provide disaster management staff with a snapshot of each community, within each atoll, in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. This will help to inform disaster management planning and early response in the event of a disaster. They are designed to capture the most significant information for future disaster planning purposes.
The information was gathered from both primary and secondary source in 2016. Household and population numbers are based on the 2011 RMI Census. Other information were gathered from relevant ministries and local government.
The project to collect atoll profiles was implemented by the International Office for Migration PREPARE program funded by USAID in close collaboration with the Office of the Chief Secretary’s National Disaster Management Office.
Please note that the Atoll Profiles are currently based on 2011 Census. Next RMI Census will be in 2021
